I hope you all enjoyed an extra hour of sleep this morning.

It was wonderful to see so many members of the Douglas Harkness community join us for our Fall Back Into Literacy Family Event on Thursday. Evenings like that foster the sense of belonging and community that Douglas Harkness strives for every day. We will be holding a similar evening in February/March with a focus on math. We hope you will join us then too!

A reminder that there will be no classes November 9 to 14 inclusive as school will be closed for Fall Break.

Parent/Guardian-Teacher Conferences will be taking place on the evening of November 23 and the morning of November 24. Soon you will receive an email inviting you to sign up for your conference time using your child's MyCBE account. Conferences are an important part of the reporting progress as teachers will share celebrations as well as goals related to your child's learning. Please mark your calendars for these dates and sign up for a time slot when invited to do so. If you would like an interpreter for your Parent/Guardian/Teacher conference, please call the school and ask to speak with Ms. Nicklin, Mr. Perrone or Ms. George.

We are excited to announce that each student will be receiving a free T-shirt depicting our new school logo. There will be no cost to families for these T-shirts however the company that is making the T-shirts will also be launching an online store so that families can purchase sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts if they would like to add to their Douglas Harkness swag. The online store link will be available on our school website later this week. Watch for a note in your child's backpack for more information.

We have been approved for another fundraising casino! Our last casino raised over $70,000 for DHS! Mark your calendars for Monday and Tuesday April 8 and 9. Our Douglas Harkness Parent Society will be sharing more information about how you can help out in the coming weeks.
