One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

About Our Parent Society
New Parent Society at Douglas Harkness School
For the last six years, Douglas Harkness School has not had a Parent Society fundraising group...until now! Our school is now eligible to apply for important fundraisers that almost all other Alberta public schools access through the AGLC. A Parent Society is a group of parents or community members, incorporated under the Societies Act for the specific purpose of raising funds for the school.
