Please see below information.

Meet the Teacher Night

Date:  Thursday, September 12

Time:  4:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Location:  Your child’s/children’s classroom at Douglas Harkness School

This is an opportunity for parents to view their child’s/children’s work in their classroom.

The parent / legal guardian and the Douglas Harkness student(s) will attend the Meet the Teacher.  The student is expected to stay with their parent / legal guardian at all times.

Please enter through the school’s main front door as the other doors will be locked.

We have a partnership with Apple which allows education for student Nutrition and Well-Being.  Apple has provided door prizes for parents who attend and enter their names in a draw.

We look forward to seeing you at the Meet the Teacher Night.

Parking

Parents are only to park on the street and not in the Douglas Harkness Staff Parking Lot.

Complete two forms:  Demographic Verification Form and Annual Authorization Form

Parents / Legal Guardians are to complete both the Demographic Verification Form and Annual Authorization Form in SchoolEngage.  You will do so through MyCBE. If you don’t have a MyCBE account, please learn how to create one here.

Demographic Verification Form

To learn how to complete the Demographic Verification Form, please go to the Demographic Verification Form technical support page for parents.

Note | a computer is not required to complete these two forms; you may complete these forms on your cell phone.

If you require assistance in completing these two forms, we will be able to assist during the Meeting the Teacher night (Thursday, September 12 from 4:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.).

Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media Use in Schools

A reminder that students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day as per the recent news.

CBE will use ‘away for the day’ guidelines similar to what many schools have been using in recent years.  Personal mobile devices brought to school including cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, laptops, smart watches, Bluetooth speakers/headphones or any personal electronic device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet must be powered off or set in silent mode and stored out of sight in student lockers, backpacks or other designated area for the duration of the school day.

Lunch

If your child is staying at school between 12 p.m. and 12:50 p.m. from Monday - Thursday, you will need to register them for the noon supervision program through MyCBE.

If your child is going home for lunch, they must leave the school at 12 p.m. and return back to school in time for the 12:50 p.m. class start.  Only students who have paid for lunch time supervision, are to be in the playground.  If students have not paid for lunch time supervision, they are to arrive at school at 12:50  p.m. at the front entrance doors.
