Principal’s Message|

/re·con·nect/
to connect again; to come back together

This week, our school has been full of smiles and happy voices. After an unexpected pause, the joy of returning to school has been felt in every hallway and classroom. Teachers reconnected as they worked together to welcome students. Students reconnected as they saw their friends and teachers again. Families reconnected at the school doors on the first day back.

Reconnecting is powerful. Being together and building relationships helps us feel we belong. When we reconnect, we feel supported and part of a caring community.

As we come back to school, there will be many chances to reconnect—with friends, teachers, and our routines. It is also a time to make new connections. When your child comes home, ask them who they talked to or played with. Encourage them to say hello to someone new.

Together, we can build a school community where everyone feels welcome, included, and cared for.

Traffic and Pedestrian Safety|

We want to remind families to help keep everyone safe around the school.
Please:

  • Follow all traffic and parking signs.
  • Do not stop in the “No Stopping Zone.”
  • Avoid U-turns and crossing the street in unsafe places (jaywalking).

These rules help protect our students and families. Thank you for driving carefully and watching for children walking to and from school.

If you would like more information about school zone safety, you can read this article from AMA:

School Fees|

School and lunchroom fees will be added to your MyCBE/PowerSchool account this week. Please log in to your account to see and pay these fees.

If you are unable to pay, your child will still be welcome at school. You can apply for a fee waiver through your MyCBE/PowerSchool account.

Instagram|

We will begin using Instagram to share learning and special moments from our school.
This is a way for families to see what students are doing and learning each week.

Instagram is one of several ways we share information with families:

  • School Messenger – weekly messages from the office
  • Teacher messages – information about classroom events
  • School website – updates about activities and news
  • Parent-teacher conferences, phone calls, emails, and report cards – to share information about your child’s learning

If you have questions about your child’s progress or learning, please contact your child’s teacher.

Please follow our school Instagram account, douglasharkness_cbe to see pictures and updates from around the school.

School Council/Parent Society Notes|
