Principal’s Message|
Come Together, Canada
Stronger connections.
Better mental health.
May 5–11 is Mental Health Week in Canada. This year’s theme is “Come Together.”
Coming together means we support each other. One simple way to do this is by talking. Talking helps us feel heard, understood, and not alone. At our school, we work to create a safe and welcoming place for all students. We want every child to feel they belong. We show kindness and take time to talk with each other.
We invite families to come together with us. At home, you can ask your child, “Can we talk?” Listening and talking together helps children feel safe and supported.
Let’s come together—at home, at school, and in our community. Every conversation helps us feel more connected.
Warm Regards,
Lisa and Jenn
Happenings|
This week we enjoyed welcome families to our Spring into Learning Evening.
Teacher Appreciation Week|
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to thank our outstanding educators at Douglas Harkness. These dedicated teachers go above and beyond each day to inspire, educate, and support our students.
Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom, helping shape the minds and hearts of tomorrow’s leaders. They invest countless hours in lesson planning, mentoring, and ensuring the overall well-being of each student.
This week is an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything they do. Whether through a personal note or a simple thank you, let's make sure our teachers know just how deeply they are appreciated.
Thank you to all the teachers who make a lasting impact on our children's lives. Your hard work and dedication never go unnoticed.
Pineridge Community Rink Upgrades |
Parks Foundation Calgary will be starting construction this week on enhancements to the existing Pineridge Outdoor Rink, on behalf of the community association. The scope of work includes resurfacing the rink slab, installing new rink boards, basketball hoops, and integrated nets for summer ball hockey and soccer. This will be a great addition to the community.
Construction access will be via the roadway next to our field space, and the contractors will install temporary construction fencing around the rink. This work is anticipated to take 2-3 months for completion.
We ask parents to please remind their children about not playing near the construction area. Please also be aware of construction traffic in the area. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
