Principal’s Message|
This morning, we were excited to welcome our new Douglas Harkness kindergarten students and their families to our Welcome to Kindergarten event. It was wonderful to see the excitement of our future students as they prepare to start school this fall.
During the event, children experienced some of the activities they will do in kindergarten through play. Play is fun, but it is also an important way that children learn. Through play, children explore new ideas, solve problems, use their creativity, and learn how to work with others.
Play helps children build important skills such as communication, cooperation, kindness, and confidence. It also encourages curiosity and a love of learning.
Play is important both at school and at home. This weekend, we encourage families to spend time playing together. You might build something, create a story, play a game, or explore outside. These simple activities help children learn and grow while creating special family memories.
We look forward to welcoming our newest learners to Douglas Harkness in the fall!
Warm regards,
Lisa and Jenn
