Principal’s Message|

“May your days be merry and bright…”

As 2025 comes to an end, we want to say thank you for supporting your child’s learning this year. We are very grateful to work with your family. Douglas Harkness School is a caring and welcoming community, and we are proud to be part of it.

On behalf of all staff at Douglas Harkness School, we wish you a Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas. We hope you enjoy time with your family and friends, sharing traditions, love, and happy moments.

Please have a safe and restful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school in 2026.

Happenings|

This week students enjoyed coming together as a community to take part in some festive activities.

Apple Schools: 12 Days of Fitness|

The winter months make it challenging to get enough physical activity. When students are active and move their bodies, they are more equipped for learning. That’s why we are encouraging you to complete our fun home challenge: The 12 Days of Fitness!

All you need to do is:

• Read the home challenge that was sent home with your child

• Complete the activities each day and write down on the tracking sheet

• Bring the tracking sheet back to school in January.

Have fun being active over the holidays!

Walking Field Trips|

Field trips close to our school can complement classroom learning by giving students opportunities to explore the community around their school. Teachers will provide at least 24 hours’ notice to families when planning a trip to a local site. You will be notified about these trips by email. Our walking field trip letter has been posted to our website.

Entry and Exit Routines|

As we return to school after winter break, we would like to remind parents of our entry and exit routines. Students should be entering the school at their designated door between 8:35-8:40am. Please do not drop your child(ren) off at the front entrance unless they have arrived after 8:40am. Additionally, parents should pick up their child(ren) from their designated doors at 3:15pm.
