Principal’s Message|
What is literacy? Literacy is critical in helping us make sense of our world. From the time we wake up to the time we go to sleep, we are constantly making meaning of the world around us. (Alberta Education)
Families across Calgary are invited to celebrate Family Literacy Week with the Calgary Board of Education. Family Literacy Week takes place from January 26 to February 2, and Family Literacy Day is on January 27.
This year’s theme is “Make Mealtime Family Learning Time.” This theme encourages families to talk, read, and learn together during meals. Sharing conversations at mealtime helps children build language and communication skills.
Family literacy is about families spending time together doing fun and meaningful activities that help children learn language, reading, and communication skills.
There are many simple ways to practise literacy at home. Families can talk about their day during meals, read recipes together, tell stories or jokes at the table, or take turns asking questions. Literacy can happen anytime, especially when families spend time together.
The Calgary Board of Education has shared a list of ideas and activities for families to try during the week. Please see the attached resource list.
Next week, we invite your family to try one activity from the list. How will your family make mealtime a time for learning during Family Literacy Week?
Warm regards,
Lisa
Online Report Cards February 2026|
Families will be able to view, download, and print online report card starting in February through MyCBE. Kindergarten to Grade 9 Report Cards will be available starting Feb. 24, 2026.
Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For the best access to information, log in through the MyCBE instead of using the PowerSchool App.
Further information about assessment and reporting can be found on the CBE website.
After May 29, 2026, all Semester 1 Reports Cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading and/or printing.
