Principal’s Message|

“We can only appreciate the sunrise

when we have come through the darkness.”

This week, as students arrived, we noticed the sky getting lighter each day. We could see the sunrise for the first time in many weeks. The sky had beautiful pink colours across the clouds. It felt calm, warm, and hopeful.

This sunrise reminded us that the days are getting longer. Spring is slowly coming. Brighter days are ahead.

Small moments like this can help us start our day in a positive way. Noticing the sky, the colours, and the light can give us a moment to pause and feel inspired. We wondered who else noticed the sunrise and enjoyed this special moment.

We hope you also have a chance to notice something beautiful this week. A small moment can help change the way your day begins. Moving from the darkness of winter toward the light of spring can bring new energy for all of us.

Wishing you a weekend filled with sunrise happiness.

Warm regards,
Lisa

Harkness On the Move|

We are excited to take our students on walks in nature and in our community. To promote this, teachers will take their classes on a walking field trip near the school on the last Thursday of each month – called Harkness On The Move!

This may be a short walk around the school field or a walk to a nearby natural area. Teachers will let families know where the class will be going before each walk.

Mathematics in Our Lives|

This year, our School Development Plan focuses on understanding math in many different ways. We are helping students see how math is part of their daily lives, homes, and cultures. To support this learning, we invite students to bring in photographs that show where they see and use math in their lives. For example, this could be a picture of them playing a board game, making music, shopping, baking with a recipe, or any other creative idea. When students bring a photo, they will share how math is connected to the picture with their classmates. We will display the photos on our math board at school.

Online Report Cards February 2026|

Families will be able to view, download, and print online report card starting in February through MyCBE. Kindergarten to Grade 9 Report Cards will be available starting Feb. 24, 2026.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For the best access to information, log in through the MyCBE instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Further information about assessment and reporting can be found on the CBE website
