Calgary Flames Foundation and APPLE School Launch 

Wednesday was an exceptionally special day for Douglas Harkness students and staff as we celebrated the launch of APPLE Schools with a HUGE assembly. With the generous support of the Calgary Flames Foundation, APPLE Schools and our new School Health Facilitator Ms. Cariolato will support the implementation of a comprehensive school health model at DHS that will empower students, staff, and families to acquire healthy habits around nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being.  During the assembly students met Harvey the Hound as well as Flames Defenseman #52 Mackenzie Weeger and Flames Forward #71 Walker Duehr. CTV News was at the school along with Flames TV so Douglas Harkness was “in the news” as well as on the JumboTron during Thursday night’s game! As we head into the Family Day Weekend, we are excited that Douglas Harkness School is joining the APPLE School and Flames Foundation family! We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!

Champion Chat 

Grade 4, 5, and 6 students at Douglas Harkness are in for a special treat on Tuesday February 20. They will be inspired by an unforgettable "Champion Chat" visit at the school featuring some of Canada's most remarkable athletes! 🌟 We are thrilled to announce that we'll be hosting a unique event where your Grade 4, 5, 6 child will have the incredible opportunity to hear firsthand from 3X Canadian Olympian, Melissa Bishop, Team Canada Skeleton Athlete, Grace Dafoe, and our esteemed moderator, previous Calgary Flames Sports Broadcaster Rob Kerr🏅 This talk isn't just any regular event—it's a chance for your child to learn from these super athletes. They'll tell us about their journeys to success, like how they faced tough times and achieved their dreams. They'll give us advice and cheer us on to reach for our own goals! 💪 This is a great chance for your kids to meet real heroes who never gave up. Let's get inspired and support each other as we chase our dreams! 🔥🚀

Family Math Night

We are holding our annual Family Math Night on Thursday February 22 from 5:00-6:30pm. Families are invited to join us in the school to play a variety of fun math games with their children. Please mark your calendars and consider joining us.
