Principal’s Message|

"Winter Solstice is a time for celebration and reflection; a time for bringing people together, for thinking about the challenges that we’ve faced and overcame, and how we will bring forward what we’ve learned into the new year with intention for good things.”

 Elder Saa’kokoto, Winter Solstice 2023

As we get closer to the Winter Solstice on Sunday, December 21, we reach an important time. The year is ending, and a new year is beginning. This is a good moment to think about the past year, what we learned, and what we hope for next year.

When we look back at the first months of school, we feel very thankful. Even though this year has been different, we have had many special moments. Families came to conferences, and we held our Remembrance Day Assembly. Teachers have been learning more about math and student well-being to support all learners. Most of all, we are proud of our students. They learn every day, try new things, and work well together.

As we move into 2026, we look forward to continuing to build a strong and caring school community. There will be many more chances to learn together and celebrate growth. Elder Saa’kokoto reminds us that the Winter Solstice is a time to celebrate and reflect—to think about the challenges and the good experiences of the year.

At this time of endings and beginnings, we invite you to think about your own year too. What did you learn? What challenges did you face and overcome? What successes did you enjoy? How can these lessons support you as we enter the New Year with hope?

We wish you peace, time to reflect, and a fresh start as we welcome the return of the light.

Happenings|

Our classes have been busy decorating their doors to bring some festive cheer to the school.

Cold and Flu Season|

During the winter season, we often encounter more illness within our school. We continue to encourage general health measures for all students and staff to reduce the risk of transmission of all illnesses, including practicing good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.

We ask that students who are sick stay home so that we can avoid passing along the germs. Please inform the office via the school email or via phone if your child(ren) will be away from school.

Classroom Instruction on Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, or Human Sexuality|

Students in Grade 3-6 have received a letter home for opt-in consent this week related to lessons dealing with Human Sexuality Unit in Physical Education and Wellness.

For students to participate, parents must sign and return this form to the teacher by January 5, 2026. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have further questions.

Kindergarten Registration 2026-27|

Registering your child for Kindergarten is an exciting step for families! Starting Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, registration will open for the 2026–27 school year.

To begin Kindergarten next school year, children must be five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2026.

For more information, please visit the CBE Registration Page or the school website
We also have a Kindergarten Registration Guide to help answer common questions and support you with the process.
