Principal’s Message|
Reunite: re·u·nite /ˌrē-yu̇-ˈnīt/: to come together again
As we wrap up a busy week, we want to thank you for your support and for being part of our school community. This week, students took part in meaningful learning and enjoyable classroom activities as we prepared for conferences.
We were very excited to welcome you to the school for parent-teacher conferences. These meetings are an important time for families and teachers to reconnect and talk about each child’s learning and progress. At this time of year, many people come together with those who are important to them, so the idea of “reuniting” feels extra special.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your care for your children’s learning. We look forward to reconnecting with you next week!

Our students enjoyed creating their own DNA (Dreams, Needs, and Abilities) to share with you at our conferences.
School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan|
Each year schools create a School Development Plan (SDP) that reflects and aligns with the CBE Three-Year Education Plan as well as school specific priorities. Schools also report on these results in the School Improvement Results Report each year.
Our School Development Plan for the 2025-2026 school year has now been posted to the Douglas Harkness website.
Report to Parents on Fees|

Attendance Success|
Coming to school regularly is very important for a student’s learning, from kindergarten all the way through high school. Even as children grow older and become more independent, families still play a big role in helping them get to school safely every day and understand why attendance matters for success in school and in life.
We know that some absences cannot be avoided because of illness or other reasons. However, when students miss too many days, it can be hard for them to keep up with their learning. Regular attendance is an important life skill that helps students graduate and prepare for future jobs.
Please help your child attend school every day and arrive on time. Here are some helpful tips:
- Talk with your child about their day and show interest.
- Encourage your child to do their best and celebrate their successes.
- Keep daily routines, such as eating breakfast, turning off electronics two hours before bedtime, and going to bed early.
- When possible, schedule medical and dental appointments after school or on days when there is no school.
Send your child to school unless they are sick.
If your child is often sick, does not want to go to school, or is having difficulty with schoolwork, please let us know. We are here to help—no concern is too small.
