PLANNING FOR NEXT YEAR:

If you have a Kindergarten age child ready to start school in September, please log into the CBE website and register them this week so that we can make sure you get an invitation to our upcoming Welcome to Kindergarten Night happening June 6th. Also, if you have any friends or neighbors with Kindergarten age children (turning 5 before January 1, 2025), please tell them to go to www.cbe.ab.ca and register their child right away so that we can send them an invitation.

If your family is moving out of the Pineridge community for the upcoming school year, it is important that you let us know right away. Schools are making plans and hiring staff for next year and having accurate student numbers ensures that schools can be ready for the students who will be in their building in September.

POPCORN ORDERS:

The school council popcorn orders will be ready to be picked up at the school on Tuesday afternoon. If you ordered popcorn, please make arrangements for your child to carry it home or for someone to pick it up if it is a large order.

HATS ON FOR MENTAL HEALTH:

May 8th is Hats ON for Mental Health Day across Canada. We encourage everyone to wear a hat to school on that day to help raise awareness for Mental Health and Well-Being.

AFTER-SCHOOL SUPERVISION:

We encourage all students to go home at the bell and only come back to the school if they have parent permission and supervision. A reminder to families that there is NO teacher supervision on the field, basketball courts, or playground after school.

NEW SOUND SYSTEM:

We are excited to announce that we have placed an order for a new sound system and projector for the school gym. We are able to make this purchase because of some of the remaining funds from our 2022 Casino. The new sound system should arrive in the next 6 weeks.

CHESS TOURNAMENT:

A big thank you to Ms. Dhillon and Ms. Pickering for taking 17 students to a mixed school chess tournament on Saturday morning. There were 5 schools in attendance. Our students represented Douglas Harkness very well and everyone had a great time playing. We will have a chess club and tournament again next year so if you missed it this time around, be sure to sign up for next year!
