Principal’s Message|
“Volunteering is a work of heart”
Last past week was National Volunteer Week. We would like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers.
You help our school in many important ways. You support in classrooms, help at school events, join field trips, volunteer for school council and fundraising and share your time and skills. Because of you, our school is a caring and welcoming place where students can learn and grow.
Your help makes a big difference for our students and staff. You help students feel safe, included, and confident.
We truly appreciate your time, kindness, and support. Thank you for everything you do for our school community.
Warm regards,
Lisa and Jenn
Happenings|
Kindergarten and Grade 6 students enjoyed outings this week to Fish Creek Park and Clarence Sansom.
Spring into Learning Family Evening|
We would like to welcome families to our Spring into Learning Family Evening. Come and join us on Thursday, May 30 from 4:30-6:30pm. You can learn about literacy and numeracy games as well as physical and mental well-being activities. We will also have some community services onsite to talk with families. We look forward to seeing you there.
Planning for Next School Year|
We would like to share some early information as we plan for the 2026–2027 school year. Our goal is to create the best learning environment for all students. We look closely at how we organize classes, classrooms, and teachers.
Here are some important updates:
- Every class will have its own classroom. Some teachers may open walls between rooms to create shared learning spaces.
- Each class will have one main teacher. This teacher will be your main contact for your child’s learning and progress.
- Teachers work together in grade teams to give students a similar learning experience.
- Students will learn in different spaces, such as the classroom, learning commons, gym, and music room.
- Some teachers may teach a different grade next year.
In May, we will start making class lists for next year. We take a lot of time and care to make balanced classes where all students can succeed. We think about:
- Students’ learning needs
- Students’ academic, social, and emotional needs
- Positive peer groups and friendships
Because of this careful process, families cannot request a specific teacher.
If you have important information about your child’s learning needs, please email Mrs. Patten by May 10 at douglasharkness@cbe.ab.ca. This information will help us when we create classes.
Thank you for your support.
School Council/Parent Society Notes|
Thank you to school council for another awesome movie night. Families enjoyed being together to watch Zootopia 2.
