Heritage Park Field Trips
As mentioned before, Douglas Harkness School received a $5000 grant for field trips. Within he next couple of weeks, our Grades 2, 4, 5 and 6 classes will be going to Heritage Park for the day to learn about Indigenous ways of knowing, Bison, and exploring our past. The Grade 3 students have already attended and brought back excitement, knowledge and more questions.
Please ask your child for the consent forms for you to sign.
There is no cost for this field trip as an anonymous donor has covered the cost. We are grateful and appreciative of the anonymous donor through Education Matters.
Scholastic Book Fair
Douglas Harkness had been chosen for students to receive 2 FREE books from the Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair was on the morning of Wednesday, April 9.
WOW! Our students were so excited and happy to see so many books to choose from. They were sharing their books and wanting to read together.
In addition, our Library received a donation of an additional 50 books for our school collection.
We are grateful to MYDOH and Scholastic Book Fair for this donation.

School Council and Parent Society
The next School Council and Parent Society meeting is on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6pm-7pm.
This is an opportunity for parents / legal guardians to make a meaningful difference for students by participating on the school council.
Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. . You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.
Sincerely
Ms. Amardeep Chana, Principal
